Chicago P.D. is an American police procedural action-drama television series created by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead as a part of Wolf Entertainment’s Chicago franchise. In this article, let’s see an actor exit from the show after ten seasons.

What does the show screen?

A spin-off of Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. focuses on the fictional 21st District, which houses patrol officers and the department’s elite Intelligence Unit, led by Detective Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe).  The first three seasons and the first half of season four focus on the patrol and Intelligence officers.

But the show shifts to focus on the Intelligence Unit from the second half of season four, after Officer Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) and Officer Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) have advanced to the Intelligence Unit.

Who is that beloved detective character leaving the show after ten years

Jesse Lee Soffer will exit his beloved Detective Jay Halstead role in Chicago P.D.’s 10th season. He is a noted American actor with a long career in television and films. Throughout the 90s, Jesse Lee Soffer has appeared in several shows and films. He later went on to star in CBS’ popular drama; As The World Turns, wherein he played the role of Will Munson.

For his performance in the soap opera, Jesse Lee Soffer received three Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series. His film credits include Gracie, In Time, and Safe Passage.

The previous franchises of the actor before debuting in Chicago Fire

Since its inception, Jesse Lee Soffer has starred in the police procedural—part of Wolf’s “One Chicago” franchise, along with Chicago Fire and Chicago Med. The show premiered in 2014, but he made his debut as Det. Halstead in the season two premiere of Chicago Fire in 2013.

After thanking the cast and show’s creator Dick Wolf, he shared a statement, “I want to thank the incredible fans for their unwavering support during the past 10 years and want to express my deepest gratitude to Peter Jankowski, Matt Olmstead, Derek Haas, Michael Brandt, Rick Eid, Gwen Sigan, NBC, Universal Television, my fellow castmates, and our incredible crew. To create this hour of drama week after week has been a token of love by everyone who touches the show. I will always be proud of my time as Det. Jay Halstead.”

He has starred in all 187 episodes of P.D. since the spin-off got the green light. Season 10 premieres on September 21 on NBC; Jesse Lee Soffer didn’t clarify when he departed.
