After the iconic slap from Will Smith and Rock compared the offer to that made to O.J. Simpson.
During a comedy show in Phoenix, Chris Rock disclosed that he turned down a request to host the 2023 Oscars.
Rock claimed he was offered the hosting position but declined it because he didn’t feel right. Will Smith slapped Rock at the Oscars, and it went viral as he made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair.
Rock made fun of the fact that returning to the Oscars would be like requesting Nicole Brown Simpson, who passed away, “to go back to the restaurant” where she left her glasses.
In addition, Rock claimed that after being smacked by Smith, he was offered a Super commercial but turned it down.
He referred to the fact that Smith had portrayed boxer Muhammad Ali in an Oscar-nominated biography and said that he and the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air were physically different.
Smith had maintained a low profile since telling Rock to “keep my wife’s name out of your f-king mouth” just before Rock won the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
Post the Oscar events. He regrets his actions.
While trying to get in touch with Rock, the star said, “the message that got back is that he’s not ready to communicate. And he will extend his hand when he is.
So I’ll say to you, Chris, I’m sorry, Smith continued. I’m available to speak with you anytime you’re ready, and my behavior was inappropriate.
