Getting an exciting update on James Gunn's DC future after Peacemaker Season 2

The future of James Gunn's collaboration with DC after Peacemaker season 2 has received a promising update.

WB and DC quickly hired Gunn to write and direct a standalone sequel to David Ayer's critically panned 2016 movie, Suicide Squad, after Disney briefly fired him from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.

The Suicide Squad, which Gunn directed, came out in 2021 and did poorly at the box office due to its day-in-date release on COVID-19.  However, the film was highly regarded by critics.

As a result of the film's critical success, WB is developing a spinoff series based on the character played by John Cena in the movie, Peacemaker.

It broke viewership records when it premiered on HBO Max earlier this year, thanks to Gunn's writing, directing, and producing.

Filming on Peacemaker season 2 will begin in 2023, as the show has already been renewed.

Gunn confirmed shortly after Peacemaker aired that he was "very seriously" contemplating more DCEU projects.

The scripts for one of Gunn's various projects in development have already begun, and they have gained significant momentum.

In response to this, fans were pleased until Warner Bros. announced earlier this month that it had formed a new company.

As a result of shelving the nearly complete Batgirl film, Discovery spread chaos among DC fans.

With Peacemaker season 2 safe in the wake of the unprecedented cancellation, Gunn can now confirm the fate of his other projects as well.

THR reports Gunn has "multiple projects in development at DC," and none are at risk.

The filmmaker's association with the franchise remains solid and appears set for a bright future. The nature of those projects, however, was not revealed.

Having worked on both Marvel and DC projects over the past few years, Gunn appears to remain busy in the days to come.

Gunn is also planning a spinoff show based on Viola Davis' Amanda Waller, which she will star in and produce alongside Watchmen's writer Christal Henry.

Gunn hasn't publicly confirmed his involvement with that series, indicating that he may be working on something entirely different.
