The cast of Garfield movie includes Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, and Cecily Strong

The Alcon Entertainment movie Garfield stars Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso, Game of Thrones), Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part I), Nicholas Hoult (The Great, Tolkien), and Cecily Strong (Saturday Night Live, Schmigadoon). In addition to Pratt and Jackson, Mark Dindal (The Emperor’s New Groove, Chicken Little) is directing the film.

It should not come as a surprise that Alcon’s Garfield film is based on Jim Davis’ renowned comic strip about an orange, lazy, lasagna-loving feline, his owner, Jon Arbuckle, and his pet dog Odie. Whenever Garfield isn’t causing Jon and his dog companion a living hell, he waxes rhapsodic about the world, his perpetual hunger, and his hatred of Mondays.

At this time, no plot details are known about Alcon’s Garfield film. While Jackson plays Garfield’s father, Vic, Pratt will voice the iconic cat. Waddingham, Rhames, Hoult, and Strong have not been identified in the reports. It wouldn’t surprise me if Waddingham steps into Arlene’s role, Garfield’s witty one-and-off girlfriend.

Strong can play Nermal, the cute gray tabby cat who is the bane of Garfield’s existence. I’m just throwing this out there, so don’t take it seriously. The last time Garfield appeared on the big screen was in 2004 when Bill Murray portrayed the character in a Peter Hewitt-directed live-action film.

Jon and Garfield visited the UK in 2006, where a case of mistaken identity resulted in Garfield ruling over a castle as a result of the sequel. The reviews for both films were all over the place, but most were negative. Afraid film fans threw their hands in the air when word broke that Pratt would voice Garfield.

Does Alcon Entertainment’s Garfield movie excite you at all? I am, now that I have outlined some casting predictions. As soon as I find out whether I am correct, I will crow about it. It’s going to be epic levels of obnoxiousness if my dream cast is realized.
