Nicolas Tetreault-Abel’s posters for Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger make fans nostalgic for Phase 1 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fan posters created by Nicolas Tetreault-Abel promoted nostalgia for Phase 1 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With Iron Man, Marvel’s shared universe was launched in 2008. As part of the first phase of MCU films, Iron Man would be followed by Thor and Captain America: The First Avengers, culminating in the release of The Avengers in 2012.
Taking a look at the MCU today, we are currently in Phase 4, with Phase 5 and Phase 6 already announced. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will conclude Phase 4 of the MCU in November 2022. With the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in February 2023, Phase 5 will begin.
There will be a wide variety of Marvel Cinematic Universe films and TV series in Phase 5 and Phase 6, such as Secret Invasion, Daredevil: Born Again, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Thunderbolts, and Fantastic Four.
Despite all these exciting new projects, viewers still feel a strong connection to the characters of Phase 1, who laid the foundation for the MCU. A user on Instagram, Nicolas Tetreault-Abel, shared two impressive and nostalgic fan posters for Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger.
Captain America: The First Avenger’s poster has a dark tone with a fiery red hue that perfectly captures Steve Rogers and his team as they fight Red Skull. Thor’s poster appears icy blue and depicts Loki and Thor, the opposing brothers. Despite their differences, the fan posters capture everything audiences loved about Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger.
Even as another generation of heroes emerges quickly, viewers cannot help but be drawn to the iconic and groundbreaking nature of the very first MCU heroes and Avengers. Although Thor appears to be returning for the next phase of the MCU, Rogers will be missed.
With the MCU moving on from the Infinity Stones story arc into the Multiverse Saga, there is always the question of how characters like Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, and Tony Stark would’ve reacted to the latest threats, heroes, and happenings.
There is indeed an empty spot where past MCU characters used to be, but the fan posters show that their legacy will live on in past works. Although those films were released over a decade ago, they are still reimagined by creative and dedicated viewers today.
In the meantime, the nostalgia that such posters evoke in fans confirms the iconic and long-lasting impact of such films. There will always be room for reminiscing about the MCU Phase 1 films that started it all – Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger – no matter how many Phases pass by.
