Dr. No, the original James Bond film, will receive a brand new Steelbook to commemorate its 60th anniversary. During the month of October, the 1962 film will celebrate its 25th anniversary by featuring Sean Connery as 007 for the first time.
In celebration, the producers announced the Dr. No 60th Anniversary Special Edition Steelbook, which can be preordered for £29.99 before October 3, 2022. A New Booklet With Lobby Cards From The 1960s Is Included, Along With A Reproduction Of The Theatrical Poster, As Well As A Buildable Toy Version Of Spectre Agent Dr. No’s Dragon Tank.
Aside from featurettes about Bond’s original premiere and the restoration of Dr. No for this anniversary boxset, there will also be a retrospective on director Terence Young. In addition to directing From Russia with Love and Thunderball, Young was one of the major creative forces behind the Bond franchise in its early years.
A commentary featuring Young as well as cast and crew members discuss how the groundbreaking film was made before Bond became a worldwide phenomenon. Also earlier this year, the 25th James Bond movie, No Time to Die, was released in a Steelbook box.
The boxset also includes a mini-booklet and the Being James Bond documentary on the 4K release. Despite Daniel Craig’s departure from the franchise, producer Barbara Broccoli recently told Deadline that no one is in the running to replace him because the team is busy “reinventing” Bond.
