Season 10 Is Kicking Off With A Major Season 1 Throwback

Following the Season 9 finale that said goodbye to two series regulars, the future of The Blacklist looks very different; but now it turns out that Season 10 will go back in time… sort of. With a throwback to Season 1, the new season will start with the death of Meera Malik, played by Parminder Nagra. A creative solution was found for the long-running drama.

It has been reported that TVLine will introduce Siya Malik, the daughter of Meera Malik. As a result of the loss of Aram and Park, Siya is reportedly coming to what remains of the task force. Trying to find answers to her mom’s death… and the work that led up to it, she’s on a mission.

Despite not being cast yet, it’s probably safe to speculate that Season 10 will feature scenes from Season 1 featuring Parminder Nagra so that fans are refreshed on Meera’s life and death. Hopefully, Nagra will return to Season 10 via some fresh flashbacks that bring her back, but for now, we can only speculate.

Unfortunately, The Blacklist fans will have to wait much longer for its return than many other NBC shows, which will be back before the end of the year. NBC has decided to hold the premiere of Season 10 of The Blacklist until midseason, which means it will air in early 2023.

It will not be the first time the show will hold a season; Season 6 premiered in January of this year. In all other seasons, the premieres took place in September, October, or November. Yes, Season 10 has yet to receive an official premiere date, but it will most likely happen very early in 2019.

NBC’s programming for The Blacklist and other hit shows was complicated by the 2022 Winter Olympics, but the Olympics won’t be an issue in midseason 2023. Meera Malik’s daughter may pack an emotional punch for the characters, given that The Blacklist has managed to hold on to several of its actors since the beginning.

While Megan Boone’s Liz Keen was killed off, Amir Arison hasn’t confirmed that he’ll reprise his role as Aram, James Spader, Diego Klattenhoff, Harry Lennix, and Hisham Tawfiq have been with the show since the beginning. The identity of the actor who will play Siya Malik will likely be revealed before January of next year, but speculation is welcome.
