The Muppet Christmas Carol is an American comedy musical Christmas film directed by Brian Henson. It would find its permanent streaming home on the newly launched Disney Plus. The song titled ‘When Love Is Gone’ was cut from the original release as Disney deemed it ‘too sophisticated emotionally’ for young viewers.
The film was originally released in 1992 and became a classic. This beloved holiday has become a seasonal staple for three decades and was originally intended to be a TV special to the recent ‘Muppets Haunted Mansion. Henson shared the origins regarded as one of the most faithful adaptations of Charles Dickens’s iconic tale to date.
Dalin Rowell was on hand with the panel titled ‘Magic in the Air: 30 years of The Muppet Christmas Carol’. The idea for the movie was brought to Henson. Jerry Juhl was the best-known writer of ‘The Muppet Show’ and all the ‘Muppets movies from 1978 to 1999. He finished the script where Walt Disney Studios Chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg held it and decided to be shown it as a theatrical feature.
It will be the first Muppet movie without a creator. Brian Henson, Jerry Juhl, and the rest of the Jim Henson Company proceed with the project. They did great because fans would not complete their Christmas celebration without viewing ‘The Muppet Christmas Carol.
By this year, it is one of the definitive versions of the Mouse House’s streaming service that can be watched on a TV along with the song ‘When Love Is Gone will make sense. On 11th December 2022, the new and improved version of ‘The Muppet Christmas Carol’ premiered. It was exactly 30 years after the movie’s first theatrical release.
