Movie title, plot, and release date revealed for Baby Shark

The streaming service announced last week that ’s Big Movie is the working title for the feature-length animated film. A new chapter in Baby Shark’s life is about to begin as he and his family move to Chomp City, a big city of sharks.

During Baby Shark’s Big Movie! he finds himself far from the world he loves after moving to the big city with his family and must adjust to life without , his best friend. A pop starfish named Stariana intends to steal Baby Shark’s gift of song in order to control all underwater music, so he must break her spell to restore harmony.

Baby Shark’s Big Movie cast! The actors behind Baby Shark’s Big Show! have yet to be announced, but they voice the characters in the Emmy-nominated children’s series! In the film, they are likely to reprise their roles.

Nickelodeon launched the show globally in 2021 on Nickelodeon-branded channels and platforms and it currently ranks as the #1 preschool program in the U.S. for the second quarter of 2022.

The film stars (Orange Is the New Black) as Baby Shark, (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) as William, (Insecure) as Mommy Shark,

Eric Edelstein (We Bare Bears) as Daddy Shark, (MADtv) as Grandma Shark, and (Seinfeld) as Grandpa Shark. There are currently two seasons of the series airing on Nickelodeon in the United States and EBS 1 in South Korea.

A big film for Baby Shark! Although it doesn’t have an exact release date yet, it’s expected to premiere in the United States sometime in holiday 2023.

A team behind the Baby Shark film
It was first announced that Baby Shark’s Big Movie would be in development in July 2021! A Nickelodeon Animation and Pinkfong Company production, the kids’ entertainment brand behind the Baby Shark song, co-produced the movie.

The project will be directed by Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Award-winner Alan Foreman (The Casagrandes, Welcome to the Wayne), with Eryk Casemiro overseeing its production as executive vice president, Nickelodeon Animation, global series content.

“It all started with a great song,” Nickelodeon Animation president Ramsey Naito recalled for The Hollywood Reporter in July 2021. It is exciting to build on that success with a huge event [in the feature film], which we are just talking about now.”

The CEO of Pinkfong USA, , also told THR at the time that he was looking forward to expanding the Baby Shark universe through the movie. “Nickelodeon is very proud to present Baby Shark’s very first movie,” said Jeong. We will be able to add new events to Baby Shark’s life that have never been explored before. We will still be in the core world, but this is an opportunity to explore other possibilities.”
