Moon Knight Season Two has suddenly found its way into the hearts and minds of many. Although Marvel Studios has yet to announce a second season, speculation started running rampant Wednesday night after a TikTok video surfaced showing Oscar Isaac and Moon Knight director Mohamed Diab joking about a sophomore season. In the event that the Fist of Khonshu got a second season on Disney+, where would the story go? If you’re looking for the Midnight Suns, look no further.
The upcoming Midnight Suns video game and accompanying comic mini-series have boosted Marvel’s preeminent horror group’s popularity. The group started out as the Midnight Sons in the early 90s, but its line-ups have changed over the years. In recent years, the group has included Blade, Wolverine, Magik, Zoe Laveau, Kushala, and Nico Minoru.
However, that specific member is neither here nor there – it is the purpose of the team itself. As with virtually every other Marvel Studios property, second attempts tend to increase in size and include more cast members.
Considering Moon Knight is Marvel’s lone horror project, it makes sense for Isaac’s Marc Spector to place himself at the core of the team-especially when dealing with supernatural threats.
As a potential second season approaches, Mahershala Ali’s Blade reboot will have landed in theaters, further fleshing out that side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Also, Marvel Studios is producing an unnamed Halloween special in secret. There will be more than enough horror characters introduced to live-action between those two projects.
With Marvel’s big Daredevil: Born Again reveal, we now know the studio is willing to go beyond its typical six-episode output for live-action shows on Disney+, allowing for an extended second season and plenty of breathing room for balancing an ensemble of familiar characters.
No matter what, a potential second season of Moon Knight would be the perfect place for Marvel’s new Midnight Suns team to be introduced.
The entire Moon Knight series is now available on Disney+.
