Warner Bros. scrapped the Batgirl movie starring Leslie Grace, according to filmmaker Kevin Smith. According to Deadline, Smith, who is a comic book enthusiast and writer, shared his thoughts regarding the move made by the conglomerate on his YouTube channel Hollywood Babble-On.
“Removing the Latina Batgirl film would be a terrible look,” Smith said in the video. ” I don’t care if the movie was absolute crap… I guarantee you that it wasn’t. This movie’s directors also directed a couple of episodes of Ms. Marvel, which was a great show, and they had more money to spend on Batgirl than they did on Ms. Marvel.”
When Warner Bros. was pressed for reasons behind the cancellation of the DC film, they declined to comment. We will not launch a movie until it is ready, according to Discover CEO David Zaslav.
Although Zaslav did not address Batgirl directly, he did give insight into their plans for DC movies in the next few years, saying, “We want to bring Warners back to DC and produce great, high-quality movies. We can create a long-term sustainable growth company from DC. We will not release a film before it’s ready.”
When the news was announced that ‘Batgirl’ would be shelved, the actress expressed her gratitude for being a part of the project. “As we are celebrating the success of our movie ‘Batgirl’, I would like to take a minute to acknowledge the hard work, dedication, and intention of our incredible cast, crew, and crew members.
