Kung Fu Panda 4 is set for release in March 2024

Universal has now set Kung Fu Panda 4 for release on March 8, 2024, following the release of Kung Fu Panda 3 in 2015. With the film in early production and no plot details available, fans can now expect the return of their favorite characters on the big screen with a confirmed release date.

Although no directors have been announced yet, more announcements are expected as production for Kung Fu Panda 4 gets underway. Considering that Jack Black has played Po in all four films and spin-off shows, he is likely to reprise the role as everyone’s favorite panda. Considering the film’s early stages of production, it is unclear whether Angelina Jolie or Dustin Hoffman will return as voice actors.

After its release in theaters in the summer of 2008, Kung Fu Panda earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature Film. As a result of Kung Fu Panda’s critical success and commercial success, it eventually became one of Dreamworks’s most lucrative franchises.

In 2011 and 2016, two sequels were released that expanded on Po’s background and his transition to the Dragon Warrior role. The films were successful enough to lead to several short films and three spin-off series: Nickelodeon’s Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, Amazon’s Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny, and Netflix’s Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight.

The Bad Guys, a Dreamworks Animation production that was well received and performed moderately well at the box office, was released earlier this year. While the studio has enjoyed great success, it also appears that they are returning to some of its older franchises.

As well as the announcement of a new Kung Fu Panda, Dreamworks is also releasing another Puss in Boots spinoff later this year using the same 2D/3D hybrid animation popularized by Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse to semi-return to the Shrek franchise.
