Jenna Bush Hager claims that King Charles enjoyed a ‘lovely’ dinner hours before Queen Elizabeth died

She also said that the timing of Queen Elizabeth II’s death likely surprised Prince Charles the night before his mother passed away. During a segment on Today with Hoda & Jenna, Bush Hager, daughter of former President George W. Bush, said the meal was lovely.

She had flown to Scotland to meet Camilla, then Duchess of Cornwall, to discuss their book club. Just hours before the Queen’s death was announced that Thursday afternoon, a year-long interview was scheduled.

The delayed flight of the future queen consort Camilla prevented her from attending the dinner with Bush Hager and soon-to-be King Charles III on Wednesday night. Charles Hager told Bush Hager that his “darling wife” was so sorry she didn’t make it to dinner. He said she looks forward to sitting down with you tomorrow.

The uncertain loss of Queen

According to Bush Hager, it was surprising to hear of the Queen’s death. There was so much joy in the conversation that evening that I think it was somewhat unexpected. In the morning, two hours before the crew was scheduled to meet with Camilla, they heard Charles and Camilla’s teams “sort of running up and down the halls” at Dumfries House, about 150 miles south of Balmoral Castle, where the Queen was.

As of the time leading up to the announcement of the Queen’s poor health, the Queen and I had been discussing whether we should walk and talk inside or outside, she recalled. After hearing noises, a team member asked the camera crew to be quiet.

Departure postponed the interview

She said he was on a call, adding they were near Charles’ office. Can you be quiet? The interview was postponed shortly after that because Charles and Camilla departed for Balmoral Castle after hearing a helicopter. She says they have rushed off to be with the Queen because she is ill.
