Jane Fonda was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma

The 84-year-old Jane Fonda took to her Instagram and revealed the news that she has non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which is treatable cancer, and that she is lucky. She called herself lucky as she has health insurance and is getting treated by the best doctors. She added that every family in America has to undergo cancer somehow, and the saddest part is that many do not have good quality health care just as she does.

Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is cancer that develops in the lymphatic system, where there are huge networks of vessels and glands in the body. She has to undergo six months of chemotherapy which will not interfere with her climate activism. Nothing can stop this woman from voicing herself as a climate activist.

The Oscar-winning actress made her acting debut in 1960 and featured in movies such as On , Nine to Five, and . Her most recent appearance was in the comedy series on Netflix. She was not just a climate activist but also a political activist, as, in 1960, she raised her voice and opposed the Vietnam war. 

She participated in the anti-Dakota Access Pipeline demonstrations at Standing Rock in 2016 and spent Thanksgiving there with the protestors. In her Instagram post, she said that her cancer is a teacher, and she is learning lessons from it; it showed her the importance of community so that no one is alone. And that, to cancer at the age of 85, for sure teaches her the importance of adapting to new realities.

In her post, she added that We’re in the midst of the most important period in human history because what we do or don’t do now will define the course of the future, and she won’t let cancer stop her from doing everything that she wanted to do.

She ended her post by highlighting the November’s midterm elections, where all seats in the US House of Representatives and just one-third in the Senate and asked to grab it. Ending her post, Fonda highlighted November’s midterm elections – in which all seats in the US House of Representatives and just over one-third of those in the Senate are up for grabs.
