In a media release Wednesday, Warner Bros. announced the sequel to Todd Philips’ Joker would be released in fall 2024. The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline describe Joker: Folie a Deux as being released on Oct. 4, 2024. Earlier this year, Deadline reported, the studio had already put a date on hold for an untitled DC Comics film.
The release date comes just one day after Warner Bros. announced it would not release Batgirl in theaters or on HBO Max, which starred Leslie Grace as the title superhero and Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman.
A photo of the script’s cover shared on Phillips’ Instagram page in June confirmed that a sequel to Joker was coming. According to Phillips, Silver also co-wrote the first film, which he shared alongside a photo of Phoenix. Silver also wrote the script for the second movie.
