 So far, Swift has redone two of her earlier albums and released them again. Fearless (Taylor’s Version), which was published in April 2021, was the first to be on sale. Red (Taylor’s Version), the following album, was released in November 2021. 

But why is Swift releasing her hugely popular albums again? She stated during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers that she is doing this in an effort to own her masters.

I made it very clear that I wanted people to be able to purchase my music because of something that happened years ago, Swift recalled. That opportunity was sold to someone else; it wasn’t given to me.

Re-recording her records, though, hasn’t only increased Swift’s wealth. For her devoted followers, she has also been able to create unforgettable events. 

Swift has been able to release songs “from the vault” because of the re-recordings. Swift created these songs years ago, but she ultimately had to remove them from the first albums.
