How soon will ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ be available on Disney+?

With Thor: Love and Thunder, we got the ‘strongest Avenger’ back. Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor Odinson in Taika Waititi’s second film about the God of Thunder, while Christian Bale plays Gorr, the God Butcher, and Natalie Portman plays Jane Foster, the Mighty Thor. Thor: Love and Thunder will have a good run in the theaters since it’s part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Almost every other film in this long-running franchise is available to stream on Disney+, so fans may forego a trip to the theater in favor of watching it from home. Here’s when you can stream Thor: Love and Thunder. This is an estimate and not a guarantee. Thor: Love and Thunder will finally be available on Disney+ on September 8, which also happens to be Disney+ Day.

Marvel Studios films have traditionally hit Disney+ 45 days after their theatrical release, but Love and Thunder were likely delayed to accommodate Disney+ Day. Marvel’s movie joins Zemeckis’ Pinocchio remake and the animated series Cars on the Road as new additions. The movie will be available in DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD formats.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be available on physical media between October 8, 2022, and November 8, 2022, two weeks after VOD. There are usually many bonus features on at least one of these formats, including audio commentaries, making-of videos, and deleted scenes. There are a few scenes with Bale and other big-name actors that were cut from the film, so maybe they will be on the Blu-ray.

After Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Love and Thunder follows the God of Thunder as he adventures across space with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Despite contemplating giving up being a superhero, a new threat known as Gorr the God Butcher emerges with the intent of destroying all gods. Thor must travel the universe to take down this terrifying foe and receive help along the way from several friends, including former flame Jane Foster, who now wields a rebuilt Mjolnir.

As Valkyrie and Korg, Tessa Thompson and Taika Waititi reprise their roles from the previous Thor movie. Russell Crowe plays the Greek god of gods Zeus in the film. Several significant characters are introduced who will likely play a larger role in the future. Featuring new and old faces and Waititi’s trademark off-beat humor, the film feels more bombastic than Thor: Ragnarok.

Before taking over Thor’s story, Taika Waititi directed indie movies. He already had a strong grasp of his quirky style by Ragnarok. He’s written rom-com about finding love in weird places like Eagle vs. Shark and mockumentaries about vampires living in New Zealand like What We Do in the Shadows. In addition, Waititi frequently appears in projects he directs or produces, so there’s a lot to enjoy.
