Generous Cop Killed In Horrific Crash While On Duty Leaves Behind Wife And Two Kids

A “kind-hearted and dedicated” police officer has died in a crash while on duty.

Horrific crash!

PC Daniel Golding, 46, a serving Met Police officer, was killed in a crash in Bayford, Hertfordshire village last Thursday.

Police rushed to Lower Hatfield Road at around 9.25 am after a crash involving a Renault Traffic van and a BMW motorbike.

PC Golding, who leaves his wife Susan and two children, Amber, 11, and Jack, 14, behind, was riding the motorbike and died at the scene, HertsLive reports.

Irreparable loss!

His heartbroken family has since paid tribute, describing him as a “dedicated family man.”

In a moving statement, the family said, “He was kind, modest, generous, friendly, thoughtful and funny.

They continued, “He spent every spare moment of his life when he wasn’t doing DIY, with his children, playing silly games, getting them to their clubs and taking them away camping.”

The family added, “Dan’s ultimate dream was to become a rider with the SEG. Over many years he was lucky enough to escort and protect the Queen and many others at national events and international summits.”

The family continued, “In February this year, Dan took the momentous decision to transfer to the Metropolitan Police so he could try to get a full-time role on the SEG.”

“PC Golding loved his role as a police motorcyclist and as a Senior Crash Investigator dealt with the worst kinds of tragedy in the most professional way and helped the families of those affected.”

“Dedicated to making individuals safer, he was a leading advocate of the Bikesafe scheme.”

“Losing this gentle husband, kind-hearted father, son, brother, and pal is a terrible sorrow to everyone who knew him. He has left a void in all of our lives that will never be filled.”

Daniel was on duty at the time of the crash but was not responding to a live incident or participating in an active operation.

The investigation is ongoing:

Detective Sergeant Mark Hollard admitted, “I want to pass on my condolences to PC Golding’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time; it is always sad when someone loses their life in the line of duty.”

“Although the probe is in its early stages, we are determined to conduct thorough inquiries to establish how this collision occurred,” Mark added.

He continued, “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or the events leading up to it, to please contact the police.”

“I would be particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have captured dash cam video of the vehicles traveling in the area around the time. If you can assist, please get in touch. Thank you.”

Suspect arrested:

A 46-year-old man was charged on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
