The tenth season of “American Horror Story” shows no signs of stopping. Since 2011, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have produced an FX anthology series featuring everything from murderous Los Angeles real estate to rundown circus sideshows to missing Roanoke colonists.
The show is returning for the first time since last year’s twofer, “American Horror Story: Double Feature,” which told a story about vampires and extraterrestrials. A companion series titled “American Horror Stories” featuring episodic shorts is now available on Hulu as part of the storybook.
What is the likely return date for the flagship horror series, and who might return with it? Here’s what we know about season 11 of “American Horror Story” so far. The new season of “American Horror Story” has not yet been officially announced, but TVLine reports that it will return in the fall.
At the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour in early August, FX chairman John Landgraf confirmed this. Seasons 1-5 of the show premiered in October, perhaps to capitalize on Halloween, but recently they’ve started releasing earlier. This track record suggests the new season will arrive in September or October.
“American Horror Story” will be available first on FX, and episodes will be available on Hulu. Hulu typically releases the FX series the day after they air. “AHS” airs on FX every Wednesday, so if you’re hoping to watch it on streaming, you’ll likely be able to find it on Thursdays on Hulu.
We don’t know much about “American Horror Story” season 11 as of yet, but that won’t stop us from speculating! Although it originated as a series that reinvented itself each season, “American Horror Story” has developed a bit of its own extended universe in recent years.
Last year, “Double Feature” arguably brought back the aliens from “Asylum,” while “Apocalypse” linked to “Murder House,” “Coven,” and “Hotel.” Meanwhile, “American Horror Stories” has included plenty of Easter eggs and tie-ins.
In that regard, it’s definitely possible that the new season will be related to previous seasons. In addition to expressing his intention to bring “Coven’s witches back someday, Ryan Murphy hasn’t given any hints about what future seasons might bring. A two-season renewal has also made it possible for the show’s writers to experiment with longer-term storytelling in the future.
We’ll update you when we know more about the “American Horror Story” season 11 cast. In nearly every season, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters have appeared on the show multiple times. Other regular returning cast members include Frances Conroy, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, and Billie Lourd.
