Michael Shannon (Man of Steel, The Shape of Water), Boyd Holbrook (Logan, The Sandman), and Damon Herriman (The Nightingale, House of Wax) will appear in Jeff Nichols’ motorcycle drama. In addition to Butler (Elvis, Dune), Comer (Killing Eve, The Last Duel), and Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road, Venom), the trio will also appear in the movie.
A fictional story based on Danny Lyon’s 1967 book “The Bikeriders” is being directed by Nichols. Production is handled by Sarah Green and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones through Tri-State. Executive producer Fred Berger will oversee the project. Described by Deadline as an original story set in the 1960s, The Bikeriders follows the rise of a fictional Midwestern motorcycle club.
A decade after it was established, the club transforms from a gathering place for outsiders to a more sinister gang, threatening the unique way of life of its original members. In addition to Nichols’ Gimme Shelter, Shannon and Nichols have worked together on The Bikeriders. Several projects have been produced together since, including Mud (2012) and Midnight Special (2016).
The Nichols and Shannon team consistently delivers on their promises. The Bikeriders will be interesting to watch. David O. Russell’s upcoming historical drama Amsterdam features Shannon alongside a stellar cast. An outrageous plot is revealed in Amsterdam, a film set in the 1930s about three friends who witness a murder and become suspects.
In Michael Maren’s comedy Shriver, Shannon also stars. This film portrays the story of a handyman living in New York who is mistaken for a famous, reclusive writer and brought to a university to give a keynote address. In Netflix’s The Sandman, Boyd Holbrook plays the serial-killing nightmare known as The Corinthian.
In addition, he will reteam with Logan director James Mangold for Indiana Jones 5, starring Harrison Ford, Mads Mikkelsen, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Damon Herriman is best known for his role as Detective Inspector Lachlan Rogers in the TV series The Tourist.
The TV mini-series Thai Cave Rescue, the film The Portable Door, and the film Run Rabbit Run are on his plate. He also stars in Armagan Ballantyne’s Nude Tuesday. Want to ride alongside Shannon, Holbrook, Harriman, and the other Bikeriders cast members when the movie hits theaters?
