For Ethan Coen’s first movie without brother Joel, he has lined up an impressive cast

Brothers Ethan and Joel Coen created films together for decades, including Raising Arizona, The Big Lebowski, and No Country for Old Men. As a result, that era has come to an end, since they’ve branched out on separate professional paths. A year after Joel Coen delivered Apple TV+’s The Tragedy of Macbeth, Ethan Coen is gearing up for his first film without Joel.

Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan have been cast in the untitled film that Ethan Coen is making with Working Title and Focus Features. Both actresses’ roles were not revealed, but Deadline reports they’ve become “some of the most coveted roles in the business” because Coen has met with a talent for the past few months.

The shortlist was ultimately selected when Qualley and Viswanathan knocked out their screen tests. Among Margaret Qualley’s film credits are The Nice Guys, Death Note, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and My Salinger Year.

In addition to her work on film and television, she has also been nominated for an Emmy for best actress for the Netflix show Maid, which earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

Moving on to Geraldine Viswanathan, she made her first major cinematic impression in Blockers in 2018. She has also starred in Bad Education, The Broken Hearts Gallery, and 7 Days, which dealt with Indian arranged marriages and immigrant experiences.

Aside from her appearances on Miracle Workers, she also has several other roles to her credit. It’s impossible to predict the dynamic between Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan’s characters since there is no plot information to work with about this Ethan Coen movie.

However, chemistry readings were part of their auditions, so it’s at least likely that they’ll be entertaining together. Together with his wife Tricia Cooke, Coen wrote this mysterious movie, which is also being produced by Robert Graf, Tim Bevan, and Eric Fellner from Working Title.
