At Sandringham in Norfolk, England, where Prince William and Kate Middleton stepped out on Thursday to view the flowers and balloons left by the public in response to Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, Prince William and Kate Middleton viewed them.
After Her Majesty died on Sept. 8, the couple was named Prince and Princess of Wales, given to them by their father, King Charles II.
Kate wore a black dress with a long overcoat, while William wore a black suit. Photos from the day show William conversing with onlookers while collecting flowers and cards.
One woman told William that the procession reminded him of when his mother, Princess Diana, died, so he found it difficult to walk behind his grandmother’s coffin on Wednesday. “Don’t cry now, you’ll start me off,” he said to the onlooker.
