Fans continue to pitch Henry Cavill as Mr. Fantastic in MCU fan art

A new piece of Marvel Studios fan art reveals Henry Cavill as Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, in the Fantastic Four reboot. In the wake of the big reveal in 2019, Phase 4 had to rework some of its plans. The global COVID-19 pandemic affected many industries, including television and film, delaying a huge amount of production.

Fantastic Four was originally going to be saved for Phase 4, but it was pushed back to the end of the phase. As a result of Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, Marvel Studios acquired the film rights to X-Men and the Fantastic Four.

Fantastic Four was originally set to be helmed by Spider-Man director Jon Watts, but he eventually stepped down due to superhero fatigue. A new filmmaker has been sought to take over, and so far, none has been announced. As for the cast, the online world has speculated and even created rumors about who might play the Fantastic Four characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It will always be part of the superhero genre to have fan-castings and rumors, but the artist Artkin has created a new piece of artwork featuring Henry Cavill as Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic. At the beginning of August, a rumor circulated that the British actor was being considered for the Fantastic Four role.

Although the Fantastic Four reboot still lacks a director, Mr. Fantastic made an appearance in the MCU earlier this year. John Krasinski, who had been heavily suggested to play MCU’s Mr. Fantastic after Kevin Feige saw the massive demand for him to play the Marvel superhero, appeared in a cameo as a Variant during Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Krasinski is not expected to portray Earth-616’s Mr. Fantastic, meaning Cavill may get the gig if he and the studio are interested. Although Cavill has been fan art as Mr. Fantastic, the beloved Superman star would be an excellent Reed in MCU’s Fantastic Four reboot.

As well as starring in The Witcher series on Netflix, Cavill has a thriving career outside of Man of Steel. While he would make a great Mr. Fantastic, it is unclear if the MCU will ever cast him. In the DCEU, Cavill’s Superman has yet to be decided.

Only time will tell whether he returns to that role or plays another superhero in another series. However, Warner Bros. Discovery may need to hurry up with this decision since Cavill can easily be snatched up for Mr. Fantastic as soon as they make this decision.
