The comedian Chris Redd left Saturday Night Live and said he couldn't thank all enough! He is the eighth cast member who leaves the show.
The comedian Chris Redd, who has been with the long-running NBC sketch show for five seasons, impersonating the likes of Kanye West and Mayor Eric Adams, among others, is the recent cast member to leave SNL before its 48th episode.

“As a part of SNL has been the escapade of a life. Five years ago, He walked into 30 Rock knowing that this was an amazing opportunity for growth,” Redd (37 years old) said in a statement. “Now, with friends who have become like family and memories he will cherish forever, he is grateful to [creator] Lorne Michaels and the entire SNL organization. From the bottom of his heart, he can't thank them all enough.”
Following his departure, Redd will highlight an HBO Max comedy special set to debut later this year titled Chris Redd: Why is he Like This? He is also slated to voice the main role in a project from Broadway Video and Audible in addition to starring in Universal's feature film Cyber Monday, which is recently in development.
Redd first joined SNL as a promoted player in September 2017 for season 43 before being nurtured to cache status in 2019 ahead of the show's 45th season. While he performed in the series, Redd scored a Primetime Emmy for amazing original music and wording in 2018 for the song “Come Back Barack.”
His exit follows a multi-exodus in the future of the show's 48th season. The cast members Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, and Pete Davidson left the show after the season 47 finale.
Sources confirmed earlier this month that three additional SNL comedians, cast members Melissa Villaseñor, Alex Moffat, and featured comedian Aristotle Athari would not return for season 48.
Longtime sketch show introducers and talent chief Lindsay Shookus also opened up about her exit from the series in August.
During the past week, SNL revealed that new cast members Marcello Hernandez, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker would join the show ahead of its new season.
SNL creator Lorne Michaels confessed that season 48 “will be a transition year, and the change years are difficult,” at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards.
“There are unknown people, and things are changing, and a different generation comes into the show,” Michaels, 77, told reporters backstage after SNL picked up its sixth consecutive outstanding variety series trophy.
