Taylor’s introduction of the album quickly sparked a discussion on the subject on social media. When Kanye West released his song “Famous” in February 2016, it contained the words, I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I gave that b*tch notoriety.

Taylor’s team refuted Kanye’s claims that she gave her approval for the song after it was released, claiming that she was unaware of the lyric I made that bitch famous. Then, in July 2016, Kim used her Snapchat account to post footage of Kanye calling Taylor and reading her the song’s lyrics. In a subsequent statement, Taylor claimed that he had never informed her that he was going to call me that bitch in his song. Kim also referred to Taylor as a “snake” in online remarks. Taylor used the word “snake” again when she released her album Reputation a year later.
