Among the stars lined up to play Rita Marley’s wife in an upcoming biopic is No Time To Die actress Lashana Lynch. Lynch will star opposite Kingsley Ben-Adir, who will portray the iconic reggae singer. Paramount Pictures went through an extensive search for the role, similar to what Ben-Adir underwent.
In order to qualify for the role of Captain Marvel, the actor underwent several chemistry readings and screen tests. It took Lynch a long time to cast, but he managed to win over not only Paramount but Rita Marley’s children Ziggy and Cedella, who are involved in the film’s making.
During the past few years, Lynch has received praise for her role as Nomi in the most recent James Bond film No Time To Die. The actor recently said she would consider reprising the role in the future if the chance arose. Adding, “I don’t know if it’s happening, by the way,” she said, “but I’d like to.”
Added Barbara, “I’ve enjoyed working with [producers] Barbara [Broccoli] and Michael [G Wilson]. It’s been like working with a family.” “[Nomi] has a personality that you just can’t get enough of if you’re a friend. And I’m really looking forward to meeting her again.”
Lynch next appears in the historical epic The Woman King based on the story of The Kingdom of Dahomey. The actress will also portray the role of Mrs. Honey in Netflix’s adaptation of Matilda.
