Emmys 2022: Lizzo says, ‘All she wanted to see was someone fat like her, black like her,’ here are the scenes of the Television Academy Awards.
The Famous singer, “Lizzo’s Watch Out For The Big Grrrls”, won the battle series Emmy, for the Competition Program category at the 74th Television Academy Awards, hosted by Kenan Thompson.
The series sees the singer audition for a group of women for the chance to be a Big Grrrl, one of the plus-sized backup dancers who perform with her on tour, reports Variety.
Lizzo cried out for the Big Grrrls to join her onstage and said the trophy was nice, but her emotions were for the people on the stage with her. They are not unique. Let’s tell more stories.
“When she was a little kid, all she wanted to see was her in the media,” she said.
“Someone fat like her. Black like her. Beautiful like her. If she could go back and tell little Lizzo something, she would be like, ‘You are going to meet that person, but b***h, it’s going to have to be yourself.”
“One year ago, these women were misting this television show that would swap their lives forever. They are Emmy award-winning famous faces and superstars who are going on a world trip! Make some noise for her Big Grrrls. She loved that so much. God bless all who supported her. That is for the big girls.” she ended her speech with these beautiful words.
“Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls” (Amazon Prime Video) was competing against “The Amazing Race” (CBS), “Nailed It!” (Netflix), “RuPaul’s Drag Race” (VH1), “Top Chef” (Bravo) and “The Voice” (NBC).
