A video of Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch defending a female fan goes viral on TikTok and Facebook

Benedict Cumberbatch is best known for his role as Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The character has proven to be one of the franchise’s most devoted heroes despite causing a bit of trouble here and there.

However, Cumberbatch doesn’t shy away from heroic acts when it comes to his everyday life. In a video that has gone viral on Facebook and TikTok, the actor defends a female fan asking for an autograph. In the clip, fans waited for Benedict Cumberbatch to walk out of a building in Times Square despite barricades.

The fans appeared to be pushing up against the barriers while they shoved each other. Although she was being shoved by others around her, the aforementioned fan seemed to be patiently waiting for Cumberbatch to appear. Several times, the Oscar winner asked the crowd to step back when he saw the fan in distress.

Funny enough, the female fan didn’t even realize the MCU star was asking the crowd to stop harassing her. Additionally, when people started apologizing, the Sherlock actor requested that they apologize to the pushed fan, not to him.

Benedict Cumberbatch is just as heroic in real life as he is on screen. I understand the excitement of seeing the Marvel star, but I think we can all agree that pushing and shoving people is not necessary. He was smart to help control the situation and stand up for a fan who seemed uncomfortable.

Aside from Cumberbatch’s enthusiastic fan base, Marvel aficionados have proven to be quite the devoted group, as evidenced by their intricate cosplay and fresh Avengers fan art. It isn’t the first time Benedict Cumberbatch has gone viral for looking out for his fans.

The actor previously gained attention for a birthday video he recorded with Avengers: Endgame co-star Paul Rudd. Could the British actor be any purer? Later in the video, the actor appears to walk away from the fans carrying a rainbow-striped bag. In this heroic scene, it’s a great cherry-on-top moment to see the star proudly displaying his allyship.

In the future, I don’t doubt we’ll see another moment like this from him given his track record of kindness. You can watch Benedict Cumberbatch travel to different universes in Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, which is currently streaming exclusively on Disney+.
