A new Apple Original Film and Skydance production will star Mark Wahlberg in The Family Plan

It looks like Apple Original Films and Skydance Media are strengthening their partnership with another A-list star at the helm. According to Deadline, Apple has acquired the Skydance action-comedy The Family Plan starring Mark Wahlberg, and directed by Simon Cellan Jones.

The upcoming Arthur the King film will be Wahlberg’s second collaboration with Jones. The Family Plan tells the story of a suburban dad who must flee his past when it catches up with him. It is written by David Coggeshall. Levinson and Wahlberg will produce with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger of Skydance.

The actor is one of Hollywood’s busiest stars and started the year with Uncharted, which starred Tom Holland and grossed more than $400 million worldwide. Then he appeared in a Sony Pictures drama called Father Stu, and next, he starred in a Netflix comedy called Me Time, starring Kevin Hart.

As well as that, he has Netflix’s thriller Our Man From Jersey. It stars Zac Efron and Russell Crowe. The company also has Ghosted, a high-concept romantic action adventure directed by Dexter Fletcher and starring Chris Evans and Ana de Armas.

In addition, Apple and Skydance Animation have a multi-year partnership that includes Luck, directed by Peggy Holmes, and Spellbound, directed by Vicky Jenson. The film is written by Lauren Hynek, Elizabeth Martin, and Linda Woolverton, with an original score by Alan Menken and lyrics by Glenn Slater, and Chris Montan serving as an executive music producer. As part of the partnership, the series Wondla has also been ordered for two seasons.
