The news that Parker Robbin’s alias The Hood, one of the most well-known Marvel villains of recent years, will make his MCU debut in the upcoming Ironheart series, starring Dominique Thorne as the armoured hero, was among the surprises at Marvel’s D23 event.
Anthony Ramos, best known for his work on Broadway in Hamilton and most recently as the lead of the In the Heights movie, will play him on the show.
The Hood of Marvel Comics was the lone Marvel villain to have his comic book series when he made his debut in the pages of his limited series in 2002, written by Brian K. Vaughn and drawn by Kyle Hotz.
The protagonist starts as a regular crook, but after killing a demon and stealing its cloak, he gains several supernatural superpowers.
Later, he developed a rivalry with the Avengers and other Marvel superheroes. The Ironheart makers announced from the D23 stage that the show would focus on a conflict between magic and technology.
Later this year, the MCU version of Ironheart will debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She will subsequently branch out onto her own Chinaka Hodge-produced Disney+ series.
Jim Rash, who previously appeared in Captain America: Civil War from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is also a cast member of the show. Alden Ehrenreich from Solo: A Star Wars Story and Lyric Ross are also part of the cast.
