A documentary on Kubrick & Spielberg assistant director Michael Stevenson is set to be released by Freida Films

It will feature never-before-seen archive footage and production materials from Stevenson’s work on movies such as Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago, Pearl Harbor, The Bourne Ultimatum, Mission Impossible, Harry Potter, and the Sorcerer’s Stone, and Warhorse in a titled An Ode to Cinema.

As part of the documentary, Ray Winstone, Malcolm McDowell, and Sir Tom Courtenay will share their memories of Stevenson. Among the film’s co-directors are Amelia O’Loughlin ( I’m Still Ethan, Creation Stories ) and Tammy Khajotia ( Saving Saffron ). A cinematographer, Ola Mesmer (The Gifted Hypothesis, In the Garden), is on board. The executive producer of the film is John Dodds (The Merchant of Venice, Sid, and Nancy).

A statement from Stevenson said: “I’ve been inspired and helped by many actors, directors, and crew members, and I hope to have done the same for newcomers.” Every team is only as good as its members. The opportunity to make a film about these remarkable people has been an amazing experience in my life.”

Throughout his career, Stevenson has garnered over 200 credits. Among his recent works is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Ant-Man and the Wasp. The BAFTA award for Outstanding Contribution to British Cinema was given to him by Sir Michael Caine in 2003.

He continued, “This film will be a marvelous celebration of 20th and 21st Century cinema, a tribute to the trailblazing filmmakers of the past and the pioneers of the present.”. “I am delighted to be working with an excellent team of female creatives to bring this project to life.” It will be the fifth film produced by Freida Films since founder O’Loughlin founded it.
