A creative partnership has been struck between Netflix and Indian filmmakers Raj & DK

D2R Films, Netflix’s production banner, has partnered with Indian filmmakers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK to develop and produce new projects for the streaming service.

Producers on a 2021 Telugu film currently streaming on Netflix, Cinema Band I, and directors and showrunners on the upcoming comedy crime thriller Guns & Gulaabs, both of which fall outside the deal, have already worked with the streamer.

Guns & Gulaabs is described by Netflix as “a story of love and innocence in a world of crime, a nostalgic tale of all kinds of firsts”

Most of Raj & DK’s Hindi content is genre-bending, including the indie drama Shor In The City (2010), the stoner comedy Go Goa Gone (2013), and the blockbuster horror comedy Stree (2018), which they co-scripted with Amar Kaushik.

Also for Amazon Prime Video India, they wrote and directed two seasons of the popular Hindi web series The Family Man, starring Manoj Bajpayee as a spy whose family thinks he is just a boring pen pusher. “Raj & DK are some of our country’s most unique creative voices,” said Netflix India’s Vice President of Content, Monika Shergill.

Additionally, they are a powerhouse studio with an ingenious storytelling style. We are looking forward to continuing our relationship with them for a multi-year creative partnership that will bring world-class entertainment to Netflix members everywhere.
